Actors, dancers and musicians, all living and training together. It’s crazy. It’s great – Natasha, dance student
Fenbrook Academy does not provide dorms, but we maintain a list of reputable local landlords and can sometimes help to match students looking to share an apartment. Accommodation assistance is available from the accommodation office between the hours of 9-5, Monday to Friday.
For students seeking to work while studying, New York provides ample opportunities both within the arts and outside them. The large number of off-Broadway shows, bars demanding musicians and movies and TV shows requiring extras mean that students can often build their career at the same time as earning. Outside the arts, several local businesses (including Flicker, a movie-themed bar and Harper’s, a nearby deli/cafe) have now employed so many of our students, over so many years, that they have become unofficial extensions of Fenbrook!
The academy is proud to support a range of charities through concerts, plays and dance performances. Busking for charity in Central Park on weekends has become a Fenbrook tradition. A thriving local music scene across all types of music means that there’s always a band looking for a bass player or a quartet looking for a cellist and collaborations between our students and local indie film producers, photographers, composers and artists are commonplace.
